What would you give for love?
You give away your life
You give away your family
You give away your voice
And every step you take, you feel pain.
After all, love hurts.
What would you give for love?
Would you be willing to give
Someone else’s life?
Someone else’s family?
Someone else’s voice?
And every step you take, they’d feel pain?

What if you could love him
Be with him
And live happily
Knowing only that every step you take
Will hurt someone else?
Would you still take the bargain
If someone you didn’t know
Suffered for your choices

...I wouldn't.

...Your tail will shrivel and disappear. In its place you will have two legs. Take heed, however! You will endure great pain. But you will be able to move and dance more gracefully than any human Princess...

Based partly on The Little Mermaid (original Anderson fairytale) and partly on my view of life.

Tell me what you think... This one isn't very good as a poem, but it means so much to me.

love that last line And every step you take, they’d feel pain? <3

I really wanna read the original Little Mermaid, not the Disney version (tough the songs are cool ;) )

Eevilprawns full name is actually The Electroencephalographically-Challenged Ferret, but that didn't fit in the box

Hmmss... that's a thought provoking bit of wording. =D I'm not sure what I'd do. I'll see what happens if it does.

Very nicely written, SS.

The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been canceled due to a conflict. :boogie:
Nicely written. I always thought love was a bitch. I still do. It hurts too much, but it's also a beautiful beautiful thing. I mean... why wouldn't it be! Right? But if you know your love hurts someone else... I dunno... the choices people make are different. I wouldn't be in a relationship with someone if I knew it would hurt someone else. Easier said than done, I know... but I have done it.

Anyways good luck! :)

It never ceases to amaze me how it's always the small things that really matter...~
waaaaoh  very well written :D
so..you read the Little Mermaid? is it good? my friend told me that it's a very sad story, very unlike the Disney version... why would she be in pain after the transformation?

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

I love this poem! good job!

"For only in the grip of darkness
Will we shine amidst the brightest stars"
Omigosh, that's SO good!! I just came from a poetry reading, so I'm all poem-ready.

You can't just go around trying to poison everyone who's mean to us. It's not good!
Umm just look up Andersen Fairytales online and you should get it... :)

Andersen fairytales are all sad... kinda like all Grimm fairytales are creepy and more for grownups =P

Basically the bargain went that with every step she took she would feel the stabbing pain of a thousand needles in each foot... kinda sad, the prince used to always make her dance for him :(

It's definitely worth a read... I just happened to find my enormous 500+ page book of fairy stories last night while rummaging through mum's room so I though "hey, why not write something?" I may do a series *poems or photos* based on Andersen fairytales... they really are beautiful :)

 thank you!
